how to lock cells in excel

Select the Cells to Lock

Open your Excel workbook and select the cells you want to lock. You can click and drag to highlight multiple cells.

Open Format Cells Menu

Right-click on the selected cells and choose **Format Cells** from the context menu.

Go to Protection Tab

In the Format Cells dialog box, click on the **Protection** tab. Here, you will see options for locking and hiding cells.

Enable Locked Option

Check the box next to **Locked** to enable locking for the selected cells. Click **OK** to confirm your changes.

Protect the Worksheet

Go to the **Review** tab on the ribbon and click on **Protect Sheet**. Set a password if desired and click **OK**. Your selected cells are now locked.
